Sexual Recovery

As we travel the path of recovery, many of us realize that something isn’t working in our relationship with sex and sexuality. We might notice that our sexual thoughts, behaviors, and desires are not consistent with our orientation, values and spiritual goals. Our sexual thoughts and behaviors may actually interfere with our ability to love and experience intimacy.

We may find ourselves sexualizing everything and everybody, or even acting out sexually despite commitments and desires to do otherwise. As these observations trouble us emotionally and spiritually, we come to realize that our relationship to sex feels as addictive as any other addiction we have in our history.

The Ranch offers comprehensive sexual addictions treatment to help its clients understand their destructive sexual patterns and lay a foundation for a life of greater sexual health and recovery. Destructive sexual patterns, sexual addictions, and sexual anorexia are addressed in individual and group therapy, psycho-educational groups, 12-Step meetings and one-to-one step coaching.

All of our clients, whether they are simply working for a more fulfilling and healthy sexual life or are struggling with a truly life destroying sexual addiction, will find the level of support and guidance they need.

At The Ranch, we are not invested in giving a new label to clients. Instead, we provide them with a safe and healing environment where they can begin exploring sexual issues in their lives. Clients are guided in inventorying their sexual histories in a way that actually reduces shame and guilt. When applicable, we will help clients understand the features of sexual addiction and steps for sexual addiction recovery as well as the interrelationship of body image issues, romance addiction, co-sex addiction, trauma, eating disorders, self esteem and substance use issues on our sexual health.

Clients explore the roots of their struggles with sexuality, including core issues around early sex-related experiences, sexual shaming, trauma bonding, and the effects of sexual abuse on their present life. Together, clients support each other in beginning a life of sexual recovery.
