Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) affects an estimated 8% of Americans or 24.4 million people at any given time. Yes, it is true that military veterans are at greater risk, although 70% of adults in the U.S. have experienced some type of traumatic event at least once in their lives. This puts an extraordinarily high number of people at risk for PTSD. Sadly, far too many people with PTSD do not seek treatment due to shame, fear or misconceptions.
PTSD is a highly misunderstood disorder, underscoring the importance of education. Did you know PTSD can fuel substance abuse, depression, anxiety, codependency, eating disorders and compulsive sexual behavior? At The Ranch, our compassionate team delivers trauma help focused on treating the whole person, including any co-occurring disorders that may be present. We believe education is integral to increasing PTSD treatment rates and recovery. Through our trauma resources, we can help you recognize the symptoms of PTSD in children and adults and provide a greater understanding of this debilitating but highly treatable disorder. Ultimately, we hope to inspire people to seek help for PTSD instead of suffering in silence.
