Typical Day

MORNINGS

The medical team distributes any prescribed medicines. Following a healthy breakfast, clients participate in daily meditation and a daily check-in where they set goals for the day. The first group of the day begins at 9:30 am. Common topics during a group therapy program include growth, change, community values and teamwork in recovery. After process groups, clients attend a psychoeducation group, wellness group, “Big Book” or Refuge Recovery study group, or community meeting.

8:00 am – 9:30 am Breakfast, morning meditation, daily goals/check-in

9:30 am – 11:00 am Primary process group

1:00 am – 12:00 pm Psychoeducation group, “Big Book” or Refuge Recovery study, wellness group, or community meeting

AFTERNOONS

From 12:00 to 1:00 pm, clients eat lunch and have time to complete clinical assignments and begin researching a rehab aftercare program. Depending on the day, adventure group or clinical group follows. During the late afternoon, clients go to the gym, have personal time, have a group session, and/or participate in a structured activity. These vary by day and gender.

12:00 pm – 12:30 pm Lunch

12:30 pm – 1:00 pm Personal time to complete therapeutic assignments

1:15 pm – 2:45 pm Adventure group or clinical group

3:00 pm – 5:00 pm Varies: open gym / group session /personal time / structured activity

EVENINGS

Dinner and time to participate in creative projects takes place from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. Following dinner, clients may have groups or personal time. At 7:30 pm clients attend 12-Step programs or alternative support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous or Refuge Recovery. We close the day with gratitude groups before bedtime at 11 pm.
